Physical Modeling Synthesis Using Pure Data Part 2 of 3

July 20, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

In part two of the workshop, members will learn about physical modeling synthesis, an advanced synthesis technique that uses real-world physics to create a sound computationally. We will overview how people have traditionally emulated instrument sounds digitally and why we make physical models. Then we will implement waveguide and modal synthesis in Pure Data, followed by a brief overview of lumped-mass spring networks.

Hybrid event. Members will receive a Zoom link after registering for the workshop.

Members must bring a laptop. Please let Brian Stanley know if you need to borrow one.

Presented by Evelyn Larking, Summer STEM Educator with Dan River Year AmeriCorps.
